Travel advice for Sunday's celebrations

Cardiff CouncilPlease take note ahead of what will be an enjoyable Sunday for all, making provisions for travel delays and busy parking. Visitors to and residents of Cardiff are welcomed along to take part in a parade on Sunday 5th May commemorating Cardiff City Football Club's huge success. We are expecting people to make the most of the Bank Holiday break and celebrate with us, and as a result we offer the following advice for those travelling in and around the city centre. There will be road closures in place to support this event. The Flourish in Cardiff Bay will be closed from 6:00am. Castle Street and Kingsway will be closed from 2:00pmThe route to the Bay (St Mary Street, Callaghan Square and Lloyd George Avenue) will be closed from 4:00pm dependent on crowd numbers. Drivers are advised to allow plenty of time for their journey, and utilise city centre car parks. Where possible, we strongly advise that visitors utilise public transport. For changes in bus services due to the associated road closures, please visit individual operator websites. Provided the weather holds up, why not walk from the city centre to the Bay?Arriva Trains WalesDue to engineering work and normal limited services for this forthcoming Sunday (5th May 2013), those wishing to travel by train to attend the Cardiff City FC Championship Winners celebration parade are advised to go to www.nationalrail.co.uk to check changes to train services.In order to support the club and fans wishing to travel to the event, return services will have extra carriages, but due to engineering work rail replacement buses will be operating on some routes.Due to the good weather and the number of fans excited to attend the event, we expect services to be very busy, and therefore ask fans to leave plenty of time for their journey, as some services will be offered on a first come, first served basis.More detail of changes to train services are as follows;Until 14.00 rail replacement buses are in operation between Rhymney and Cardiff From 14.00.From 1400 onwards, buses will then be running between Ystrad Mynach and RhymneyUntil 14.00 buses will run between Radyr, Llandaf, Cathays, Cardiff Queen Street and Cardiff Central. Trains will divert via the City Line.Last Cardiff Bay service will depart Cardiff Bay at 18.54 This service has additional carriages.Last services on majority of Valleys services will have additional carriages.
