The pressure is on Liverpool
Aron Gunnarsson will play the biggest match if his career today but he believes the pressure is on Liverpool, not him and Cardiff City. Cardiff are the underdogs when they face Liverpool this afternoon in their first ever League Cup final. Incredibly it's Cardiff's 4th trip to the new Wembley. Liverpool last went 16 years ago, before it's redevelopment, but have won the FA Cup since when the finals were held in Cardiff. Aton Gunnarsson is looking forward to the biggest game of his career and he intends to enjoy it. He said: "Liverpool are a big club and we know that we are going to go in as underdogs so we have to go out there, hope for the best and enjoy a great occasion. "We know that we need to have a great game, every single one of us will have to play well if we are to succeed. "But we are going to enjoy it, there is a mix of nerves and excitement around the squad, which I think is a good mix for any athlete. "There is no pressure on our backs because Liverpool are the favourites and hopefully that can help us just go out and savour a great game. "This is the biggest match of my career. I have never been to Wembley to watch or to play, but I am going there to enjoy myself." The Iceland midfielder, 22, who joined Cardiff from Coventry last summer is also eager to lock horns with Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard. "He's a world class player who has been there and an awful lot of Icelandic people admire him," said Gunnarsson. "It's going to be weird playing against him but I'll just take the game as it comes and do everything I can to help us win." While most of Gunnarsson's friends back home in Iceland are Liverpool fans, the man himself revealed he was a Manchester United supporter growing up, meaning a win over their fierce rivals would be that little bit extra special. He said: "There are loads of Liverpool fans in Iceland, they are probably the best-supported English club over there, although I am trying to get my friends to support Cardiff. "But when I was growing up my favourite team was Manchester United because my dad and my brothers supported them. "So for a United fan beating Liverpool would be amazing, especially in a cup final."
