The Championship weekend

16 March 2013 09:55
Ten games today with the top three all in action.

There are two games on Sunday. One of which involves 4th place Crystal Palace.

But first up let's look at Saturday's action.

Leaders Cardiff are in Yorkshire to face former manager Dave Jones's struggling Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls are just four points above the drop zone but will be encouraged by a 1 - 0 win at Leicester last weekend. Cardiff have not won in the last three.

Hull City are 2nd and face the toughest of tests today when Nottingham Forest visit the KC Stadium. Forest have won the last five on the bounce and if they were to beat Hull today would be just eight points behind the Tigers with 8 games to go. So Forest on their incredible run since Billy Davies returned will still have an eye on on automatic promotion place if they keep the winning run going. There's huge pressue on Hull not to lose that game.

Watford in third are six points behind City. They are also in Yorkshire today (that's three huge matches in the championship today all in Yorkshire) Gianfrance Zola (yesterday awarded manager of the month for February) takes his side to Barnsley.

Watford lost at home last weekend and will not find it easy against the Tykes who are in 21st place, two points outside the drop zone.

So there's no easy game for any of the top three sides today. And Palace in 4th face a tricky fixture with a midday kick off at Brighton tomorrow.

With no matches next week because of international matches there's a chance today for a club to go into the break with a morale boosting victory that could be crucial in the final run in.
