Still nothing official on a potential new manager

Plenty of gossip with a couple of names neck and neck as favourites. But it's all based on bookies odds and unconfirmed rumours. The club have made no statement and mentioned no names at all. Chris Hughton and Roberto Di Matteo are the favourites. Mark Robins has been linked and the departure of Mark Hughes from Fulham last week has caused questions to be raised about his potential involvement. Hughes is also linked with Chelsea, to me I think Hughes will end up somewhere inbetween, the Villa job is open after Gerrard Houlier left last week and despite Villa denying Hughes is their man it's funny how these things just happen. Talk of an inside promotion for Terry Burton or Neal Ardley appears to have cooled. Depending on what rumours you read or believe the club have been speaking to potential candidates and will continue to do so but there's nothing new to report with any substance.
