Steve McPhail, 33, has signed a short term deal with Sheffield Wednesday until January.
He could be in line for a debut against Birmingham City in the Championship tomorrow.
He follows another former City player, Roger Johnson, to Hillsbrough to join up with manager Dave Jones.
