Saturday's results cost City a place

Stoke City moved above the Bluebirds with victory over Sunderland.

The bottom half of the Premier League table tightened up after Crystal Palace's shock win at Hull City. Palace annoucded before the match that Tony Pulis had signed a two and a half year contract as their new manager.

The Eagles were down to 10 men when Barry Bannan scored the only goal to lift Palace off the bottom of the table.

Hull City fans, during the game, held up a banner that said 'We are Hull City' making a point against the owner and his plan to called the club Hull Tigers. Stewards forced the removal of the banner.

Stoke beat Sunderland 2 - 0 and that victory took them above Cardiff to 14th place. Cardiff are now 15th.

Defeats for Norwich, West Ham and Fulham keep them all below the Bluebirds who play today against Manchester Utd. A Cardiff win would see a climb of four places. A point or less would keep City where they are now.
