Riggott close to Cardiff deal

Cardiff have agreed a deal with Chris Riggott and will complete his capture provided the defender passes a strict medical.

The 30-year-old has been training with the Bluebirds for the past couple of weeks and is a free agent following his release from Middlesbrough at the end of last season.

But his short time at the Cardiff City Stadium has been hampered by injury, a similar story to the past few years of his career, and manager Dave Jones wants to make sure his fitness is 100% up to scratch before completing the move.

Jones said: "Everything`s been agreed on the financial side, we`re just crossing the t`s and dotting the i`s and just making sure.

"Chris had an injury last year that has kept him out for a while, we just want to make sure when we`re bringing players in that they are up to the standard sticking within the fitness regime that we have here.

"Hopefully that will all be concluded over the next few days."
