Purse delays nose operation

The Bluebirds' club captain was due to have minor surgery which would have kept him out for up to seven days, but with Gabor Gyepes suspended at the weekend Purse is prepared to step in. "I'm ready if the manager needs me against Swansea - and I'd love to play," he told the South Wales Echo. "I was due to have minor surgery on my nose. I've broken it a few times and the operation will make it easier to breath - open up the airways by taking out a bit of cartilage. "It would only have kept me out for a short time, up to seven days, and I would have been fit. But I felt it was best to postpone the surgery just in case an infection kept me out."
