Purse confident of handling pressure

The Bluebirds travel to Hillsborough looking to pick up the point they need to secure a place in the top six, while one eye will also be on rivals Burnley and Preston as they look to oust Dave Jones' men by seeing off Bristol City and QPR respectively. It promises to be a thrilling conclusion to the 2008/09 season and Purse, who could earn a recall to Dave Jones' starting XI, is backing Cardiff to be able to handle the heat. "We can cope with the mental pressure and have a squad good enough to be promoted," said the centre-back in the South Wales Echo. "Every player is a part of what is happening and this squad can cope with the mental pressure of the situation. "There is plenty of experience within the squad. Riccy (Scimeca) has been promoted, while Sparky (Mark Kennedy) has gone up automatically and via the play-offs. He knows what it's all about and Stephen McPhail is another who's been there and done it. "Our Scottish lads have played in Rangers v Celtic Old Firm games and they know all about a cauldron-like atmosphere. Other lads may not have played under the pressure that does build up and it can be tough. But we have everything needed to see this through to a successful conclusion. I'd love to be out there but, if not, I'll be cheering the lads on."
