Problems mount for Bluebirds

Cardiff midfielder Stephen McPhail was taken to hospital with a rib injury following the 2-0 home win over Championship strugglers Peterborough. In a further blow, striker Jay Bothroyd suffered ankle ligament damage as manager Dave Jones faced the prospect of losing both men for Saturday's FA Cup fifth-round tie at Chelsea. Darcy Blake was also taken off with back trouble, and Jones said: "Stevie's gone off to hospital. He's breathing okay but he's had a bang in the same place he had a knock before, in the area of the pancreas, so we've got to make sure that's right. "Darcy has been struggling with his back and his calves, so that's a problem, and Jay has picked up another injury. "I haven't got a clue who's going to turn up on Saturday for Chelsea. I'm thinking of bringing my own boots. It's all hands to the pump at the moment. "We're short of numbers and all credit to the players - they are digging deep and the fans are appreciating it. They're not getting on our backs because they can see we're short at the moment."
