Pre match manager comments

Dave Jones and his squad stayed up in Yorkshire after Saturday's victory over Doncaster and the boss believes the miles saved will benefit his side ahead of tonight's match with Sheffield Utd. “It saved us on a lot of travelling. We felt it was best for our preparation to stay up,” said Jones. “It could save on a lot of back trouble and a lot of miles. “It’s given us a bit more time to work on any niggles rather than be stuck on a coach for five hours. It’s been the right preparation. “It’s just that boredom sets in sometimes. It’s not all luxury, the players have got to find things to do in their spare time. “Sunday was good. The lads watched the golf for the majority of the time which was good. “We trained in the morning and yesterday morning. So it’s been good.” And now Cardiff face a six match run in starting with what promises to be a tense night at Bramall lane. “We wanted to be in the mix and we are,” the Cardiff boss added. “It’s the first time since coming into the Championship the club has been in this position. Before we were scrapping around for a play-off place, but now we are actually fighting for an automatic place. “We’ve had to work hard to get to that position.” Blades boss Mickey Adams was disappointed his side got nothing from Saturday's clash with Middlesbrough and knows he can't rush into the game with Cardiff tonight because of the potency of the City counter atack. “You can’t go too cavalier because they’ve got people like (Craig) Bellamy who are going to hurt you if you do that,” said Adams. “But, the way we played (against Boro) even a point would’ve been a disappointment. “Bjorn (Helge Riise) and Boggy (Daniel Bogdanovic) caused them problems in good areas. We’ve got to believe we can still get out of it even though it might look an impossible task.”
