Success for Whitts at the Football League Awards evening.

Peter Whittingham won the award for Goal of the Year for his stunning effort against Barnsley last year.

Aided by Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Whittingham fired an unstoppable volley past Barnsley's Luke Steele.

Congratulations to Whittingham who just missed out on the Player of the Year award. That went to Southampton's Rickie Lambert.

On winning his award, Whittingham said: "That was the best goal that I have ever scored and to be up against so many great goals, and win the award is very special.

"I actually voted for Darren Ambrose's goal, but I am absolutely delighted to get the award myself."
