Oli rescues City from another fine mess

Seyi Olofinjana nodded in the only goal as City scored an 85th minute winner for the second week in a row. Cardiff totally dominated struggling Scunthorpe but needed Oli's late header to secure the points.City were on the attack straight from the kick off and the match stats show one way traffic as far as possession and chances are concerned. Scunthorpe did have a couple of decent efforts, with Heaton comfortably catching one shot and another going just wide but that was all.Cardiff were allowed time to build attack after attack but the flat atmosphere added to the frustration of a lack of decent chances. Such was the lack of interest from Scunthopre the gate between the family stand concourse and the away section was opened at half time for City fans to use the facilities and buy refreshments that would go to waste if left to the 50 or so visiting fans to purchase. The dynamic of the game changed after Dave Jones made his substitutions. Burke, Koumas and Parkin came on for Emmanuel-Thomas, Chopra and Bellamy. Parkin got a final touch on Jay Bothroyd's effort but the flag had already been raised for offside before Koumas, appearing rejuvenated, beat his man and crossed from the left, Bothroyd won his header allowing Olofinjana to bundle his header into the net.Another 1 - 0 victory secured in the 85th minute turned out to be a massive result with news coming in that Swansea and Norwich both snatched 94th minute victories. You would think City will need to up their game and their tempo when Burnley visit on Tuesday.Still, back to back 1 - 0 wins shows character and resiliance and have aided a very good run of form that has seen City collect 14 points from the last 18 available.
