New deal for Ben Nugent

The young defender, who scored for City at Barnsley, has signed a new deal until 2016.

"He's a kid that has a fantastic attitude and I think that's a great starting point," Malky Mackay told the club's official website.

"He's someone that desperately wants to do well and learn, so I'm delighted for him. He's come in and managed to stand the test of playing in the first team.

"We’ve rewarded him with longer term contract – he stood the test of going into first team as a youngster, when you don’t know if they will sink or swim or what is going to happen, Until they cross the line and play first professional game at that level you can’t be certain.

“Took that in his stride, captained the reserves and if he keeps working he is going to be a good player in the future. He has a lot of the right attributes to have a good career.”

Nugent is expected to start in defence for City at Macclesfield this afternoon.
