Marshall returns for Bluebirds

David Marshall will make his first Cardiff start for two-and-a-half months as bottom club Preston visit the Welsh capital. Regular number one Tom Heaton is on crutches having this week picked up a ligament injury at the club`s Vale of Glamorgan training ground which will rule him out for the foreseeable future. His absence means Scotland international Marshall comes in for his first start since being replaced by Heaton in late September. Defender Paul Quinn (also ligament damage) and Chris Riggott (match fitness) remain unavailable to manager Dave Jones. Chris Burke, Lee Naylor, Kevin McNaughton, Darcy Blake and Stephen McPhail all returned from various injuries and illness to play their part in last weekend`s 2-1 defeat to promotion rivals QPR. Jones will be hoping his side can get back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats and the visit of a North End side with just one victory in 10 provides the perfect opportunity to do just that.
