Marshall out of Scotland squad

Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall has withdrawn from the Scotland squad to face Sweden this week, the Scottish Football Association have announced. Marshall has been forced to pull out of the friendly due to an elbow injury sustained during Sunday`s 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield United. The Glasgow-born stopper was initially called up by Scotland manager Craig Levein against the wishes of Bluebirds boss Dave Jones, who was facing a goalkeeper crisis ahead of Wednesday`s Carling Cup clash at home to Burton. Although Marshall will still miss the tie due to his injury, which is not serious, Tom Heaton is now eligible to feature between the sticks after the club`s transfer embargo was lifted on Friday. Everton goalkeeper Iain Turner has been called up as a replacement for Marshall and is on his way up to Glasgow to meet up with the Scotland squad ahead of the flight to Stockholm on Monday afternoon.
