Liverpool earn 1 - 0 win in other semi final

Man City 0 - 1 Liverpool. But Cardiff I feel are most vulnerable.

Both Carling Cup semi finals are seperated by just one goal.

Liverpool, thanks to a Steven Gerrard penalty, beat Man City at Eastlands last night and will take the one goal lead back to Anfield on Wednesday January 25th.

Cardiff find themselves in the most vulnerable position because they did not score an away goal.

Should Palace score at CCS in two weeks time then City will need to find the net at least three times to make the final.

Away goals do not count after 90 mins but they do after 120. So for example a 2 - 1 Cardiff win after 90 mins would force extra time but no further goals would mean Palace would win on away goals after 120 mins.

So at the very least Cardiff need a 1 - 0 win to take it to extra time and then possibly penalties. A 2 - 0 home win would see Cardiff through after 90 mins but a Palace goal will mean City must win the match after 90 mins and by at least two goals if it goes to extra time.

I fear that Palace will look to sucker punch us early on and then do as they did on Tuesday and play a 10 man defence. Squeezing us out of the tie.

But with my positve head on we will of course win 3 - 0 and all will be well.
