Leeds v Cardiff. Match preview

30 October 2011 12:35
City will be without Kenny Miller again as the striker recovers from a head wound that left him needing 20 stitches.

Joe Mason is set to be the lone striker in a 4 - 5 - 1 formation. Ben Turner is expected to start after missing out in midweek to Anthony Gerrard who is suspended today.

Turner played the last three league games with City conceding 9 goals. Gerrard helped keep a clean sheet in midweek.

I think the stats are unfair on Turner. Let's hope he gets a clean sheet today. David Marshall should return after Tom Heaton played in the Carling Cup win over Burnley. Marshall, lke Turner, watched his replacement keep Burnley out.

Former Bluebirds Ross McCormack and Andy Keogh should start today. McCormack is the divisions joint leading scorer of League goals at the moment.

Leeds will continue to monitor the fitness of winger Robert Snodgrass.

Snodgrass sat out last weekend's win at Peterborough due to a back problem, but returned for the midweek defeat at Birmingham and played the full 90 minutes.

Midfielder Mika Vayrynen made his league debut for the club at Peterborough and after dropping back to the substitutes' bench on Wednesday night was a 77th-minute replacement for Adam Clayton.

Paul Rachubka will retain his place in goal as Andy Lonergan is sidelined with a fractured finger.

Midfielder Lloyd Sam and striker Luciano Becchio are pressing their claims for a place in the starting line-up, but manager Simon Grayson, who has no new major injury or suspension problems, is not expected to make any unforced changes as his side look to bounce back from their first league defeat in eight matches.
