Jones set to revert to best side
Jones called upon six new faces for the 1-0 Carling Cup defeat at Aston Villa on Wednesday night - with Peter Enckelman, Adam Matthews, Gabor Gyepes, Tony Capaldi, Riccardo Scimeca and Gavin Rae all starting.
And it remains to be seen how many, if any at all, are included in Jones' starting XI at Hillsborough, the scene of Cardiff's play-off heartache on the final day of last season.
Jones also switched to an unorthodox 4-5-1 formation at Villa Park but is likely to revert to the more familiar 4-4-2 for the club's return to league matters against Brian Laws' Owls.
Stephen McPhail misses out as he serves the final game of a three-match suspension for his sending off at Reading.
Ross McCormack (hamstring) and fellow forward Kelvin Etuhu (ankle) will be out for longer than initially expected, with the former hoping to return in mid-October and the latter around the end of November. Full-back Kevin McNaughton (ankle) is also not quite ready.
