Jones seeks striker swoop

Cardiff boss Dave Jones is looking to delve into the loan market to replace striker Michael Chopra. Chopra, who has nine league goals this term, has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, putting extra pressure on Jay Bothroyd, Craig Bellamy and Jon Parkin to fire the Bluebirds to promotion. Jones has already made enquiries about bolstering his attacking options but has had no success so far. He told the club's official website: "It's a major blow that Chops will miss our season run-in because he's a big player at this football club. "As for the possibility of any replacements we're looking and asking but at the moment the players we're looking at either don't want to come at this stage of the season or they want to go elsewhere. "On top of that strikers may look at what we've got to see the likes of Jay, Parkin, Bellamy and so on and from that think they'll not get to play every week. There are a number of factors but we'll keep trying and looking. If we can bring someone in we will."
