Cardiff boss Dave Jones thinks that Darcy Blake signing a two-year-deal with the club on Tuesday shows the club's intent to keep their best young players at the club. The 21-year-old local boy, whose new deal runs until the summer of 2012, has followed in the footsteps of fellow defender Kevin McNaughton in committing his future to the Bluebirds with Peter Whittingham also thought to be close to agreeing new contract terms. Jones told the club's official website: "We're a long, long way down the line now, in keeping with the original plan in the summer of bringing new faces in and then working on our current player contract talks. "It illustrates that we've come a long way in a very short space of time. The fans have to be overjoyed that we've kept the players we wanted to keep, which shows the division a signal of our intent. "We're close as we can be with a lot of others on our list of players out of contract next summer, those with agents. We've spoken to their agents and have put the deals to them and are waiting on some replies."
