Jones plans shopping spree

Cardiff manager Dave Jones is hoping to land four new faces before the close of the transfer window on August 31. Jones has seen his activities in the market limited over the summer due a transfer embargo placed on the cash-strapped club in relation to various debts and financial issues. But that was finally lifted on Friday and the Bluebirds are keen to strengthen having seen summer signings Tom Heaton, Daniel Drinkwater and Jason Koumas complete their registrations ahead of Sunday`s season opener at home to Sheffield United. Jones told the South Wales Echo: "We have to move quickly and bring in the players we have been chasing. That will probably be next week now. "I want to bring in another midfield player and I might have to manoeuvre others out to get those I want in. If I can bring in four more players before the transfer window closes and keep those I want, I will be happy." He added: "There won't be another transfer embargo because everything seems to be sorted now. The only way there will be another transfer embargo is if they don't pay the tax. We'll have to wait and see."
