Jones: No sympathy for relegated Preston

Cardiff boss Dave Jones said he had no qualms about his side winning at Deepdale in a result which relegated his former club Preston from the npower Championship. Bluebirds midfielder Peter Whittingham fired home a low cross from Craig Bellamy in the sixth minute as North End were condemned to a return to the third tier of English football for the first time since 2000. The result marked Preston's first relegation in 18 years but Cardiff boss Jones - a former Preston player - was more concerned with his own side as victory kept them in the hunt for automatic promotion. Jones played for Preston between 1983 and 1984 and said: "Playing two games in three games is very difficult but in the first half we could have been three or four goals up. "I played here but this business is ruthless and I came here with the intention of winning the match, regardless of whatever the outcome was."
