Jones: League positions add "extra spice" to derby

South Wales derby clashes do not need any extra billing but Sunday`s meeting at the Liberty Stadium takes on added significance given the two clubs' league position, according to Cardiff manager Dave Jones. The Bluebirds travel to Swansea just two points behind their local rivals in the battle for promotion in a game which, unsurprisingly, always seems to eclipse the previous as the biggest in Welsh football history. Cardiff are looking to avoid a piece of history by becoming the first out of the two local rivals to ever suffer a double league defeat in the same season following their 1-0 home reverse in November. Jones said: "I don`t think it matters where both teams are in the league, I think derby games are always going to be feisty and always billed as the biggest games of the season. "So it doesn`t matter if you`re near the top, middle or bottom because they`re local derbies. "But it does add a little bit extra because both teams are doing well and both teams want to continue to do well. It`s just another ingredient that`s added to it that gives it that bit of spice that it doesn`t really need at the end of the day because derby games are what they are."
