Jones hails Bluebirds effort

Cardiff manager Dave Jones feels his side have "one foot on the ladder" in their bid to secure promotion from the npower Championship after his side ruthlessly despatched Sheffield United 2-0 at Bramall Lane. The Bluebirds were rarely stretched as goals from skipper Craig Bellamy and substitute Jay Emmanuel-Thomas secured a third straight win that lifted them above Norwich and into the second automatic promotion place. Jones said: "We've got a foot on the ladder. Our work-0052Crate was phenomenal. We worked our socks off and did the dirty part really well. "Sheffield United were the first team we played this year and we couldn't fill the bench. We didn't have any players. (Seyi) Olofinjana and Bellamy weren't here and it was a case of the board getting us out of the trouble we were in and moving forward. "We've gone that way and everyone's favourites [for promotion] at the start seem to have gone the other way." On Bellamy, he added: "Craig led from the front. He must have run 100 miles and there were a lot of people trying to catch him - not just their players, but ours sometimes because he breaks so quick."
