Jones finds reason for cheer

Cardiff manager Dave Jones was pleased to get back to winning ways with a home victory over bottom club Peterborough. The Bluebirds were thrashed 5-1 by Newcastle last time out but bounced back with goals from Chris Burke and Anthony Gerrard, although their cause was not helped by a poor home pitch that boss Jones admitted was below par. The Welsh club face a winding up order in the High Court on Wednesday and Jones admitted, given their financial constraints, there was little the club could do about the surface. "After Friday it was good to get back to winning ways despite the state of the pitch," he said. "We dealt with the problem well enough but it is difficult to play our normal game on that surface. "The grass has gone and only the fibres are left but due to our financial situation we were unable to pay for the necessary remedial works that could have improved the surface."
