Promising Arsenal youngster Jay Emmanuel-Thomas could prove to be a big hit at Cardiff, according to City boss Dave Jones.
The attacking midfielder has agreed to a four-month loan deal with the Championship club, having featured in four first-team games for the Gunners this season.
And Jones revealed that the Bluebirds were not the only club who were looking to acquire the services of the 21-year-old.
"We'd monitored him since the start of the season after the window closed," he told the club's official website.
"They were always looking to send him out to a Premier League club, but they didn't get that offer. Arsene (Wenger) decided that he wanted him to come here and we were pleased with that as we worked hard to get him.
"We had to hang in there as there were quite a few clubs chasing him."
Emmanuel-Thomas has experienced Championship football before, having enjoyed spells on loan at Doncaster and Blackpool last season.
