Jones eager to finish the job
The Bluebirds need just a point against Ipswich, who sacked manager Jim Magilton on Wednesday, on Saturday to guarantee their place in the top six.
Cardiff have picked up just one point from a possible six over the last four days, but Jones has stressed he will take a play-off place any way it comes.
Speaking after the draw at Charlton he said: "It would have been hard to come away with nothing because it would have been tough to pick them up and we've got a hard game on Saturday against Ipswich.
"If we had gone into that on the back of two defeats it would have been a nervous occasion.
"But if we've got to limp over the line then we will. We've got to get another point."
