Jones dismisses row with Ridsdale

Cardiff City boss Dave Jones has laughed off his post Preston defeat row with chairman Peter Ridsdale, saying the incident has been over-exaggerated.The row took place in the Deepdale dressing room after Cardiff lost 3-0. [LNB]Jones said: "It's over-exaggerated and everything else, bur we have heated discussions. We have arguments because we care - people think you don't care. [LNB]"If I argue with the people that are around me, then it's better than going home and arguing with the wife." [LNB]Defeat dented the Bluebirds' play-off hopes and Jones and Ridsdale clashed in its wake. [LNB]They met on Monday to discuss the Bluebirds' current form and off-field plight and on Tuesday Jones told BBC Sport Wales: "The dressing rooms are always heated places to be after games."[LNB] We've got to make sure that this dressing room realises where we are, what position we're in and how close we are to it Dave Jones Financial constraints denied Jones the chance to bring in loan or permanent signings since November and he says the players must knuckle down. [LNB]Cardiff remain in the hunt for a play-off place, lying sixth in the Championship, but without a win in their last three games. [LNB]In the aftermath of Saturday's defeat Jones said: "It's been hard for everybody, but we're in a situation where we can't do anything about it. [LNB]"So it's not good having a go at the chairman or the board or whatever - that's the situation we're in. [LNB]"We can't bring players in, we just get on with it. [LNB]"But unfortunately for us at this moment in time when maybe one or two do need to come out, we can't change it. [LNB]"And that's where the battle is and that's where we've got to use every resource that we've got and we've got to make sure that this dressing room realises where we are, what position we're in and how close we are to it and don't mess it up. [LNB]"And that will take a big effort and not just "feeling sorry for myself" or "things haven't happened for me or whatever"." [LNB]The Bluebirds have also been affected by an injury list that includes local talisman Joe Ledley (hip), Stephen McPhail (ribs) and Mark Hudson (ankle). [LNB]Jones warns there is no respite on the way for his threadbare squad. [LNB]He said: "The same bunch of people have got to go [and play]. It's the same 17 people and there isn't anyone going to come back sooner.[LNB] Give your thoughts on Cardiff City "So we've got to make sure that we find the formula or inject them with something that's going to make them realise how close they are to it and stop feeling as if the world's on their shoulders at the moment. [LNB]"Just go out and go and play and that's what they all get paid for - to put in performances. [LNB]"It's hard to keep telling the same people. It's hard to keep having a go at them and everything else because sooner or later they'll switch off. [LNB]"It's difficult times. But we're still in a good position - it's just trying to get everyone to stick together." [LNB]Jones says the Bluebirds must also ensure they do not repeat the sort of mistakes that blighted their display at Preston. [LNB]Goalkeeper Peter Enckelman's mistake gifted Preston a goal and defender Paul Quinn gave away the penalty from which they also scored. [LNB]"I don't know what possesses them sometimes. I really don't and that's the time that costs the games and that's the time that you've got to make sure you don't keep doing it," said Jones.
