The Bluebirds were thrashed 5-1 by Newcastle last time out but bounced back with goals from Chris Burke and Anthony Gerrard either side of half-time.[LNB]The home side's cause was not helped by a poor Cardiff City Stadium pitch that boss Jones admitted was below-par.[LNB]The Welsh club face a winding up order in the court today on Wednesday and Jones admitted given their financial constraints there was little the club could do about the surface.[LNB]"After Friday, it was good to get back to winning ways despite the state of the pitch," he said.[LNB]"We dealt with the problem well enough but it is difficult to play our normal game on that surface.[LNB]"The grass has gone and only the fibres are left but due to our financial situation we were unable to pay for the necessary remedial works that could have improved the surface."[LNB]Jones praised the performance of winger Burke who stabbed home the game's opening goal from close range on the half hour.[LNB]Cardiff controlled for long periods but it was only after Posh skipper George Boyd fluffed a chance unmarked in front of goal that they ensured the points when Gerrard turned in Peter Whittingham's 78th-minute free-kick.[LNB]"We knew how Peterborough would set up after their win on Saturday and so we needed an out-and-out winger and that is why Chris Burke came in and did a good job," he said.[LNB]"It was a comfortable disciplined win and as long as we kept doing the right things I knew the goals would come."[LNB]Cardiff now face an anxious 24 hours as they await their fate but on the field tonight's win kept them in fourth place and Jones believes at least the players are providing reason for cheer.[LNB]"The problem we have is that we are using the same group of players week in, week out and there will be games when things don't go our way." he said.[LNB]"Three games a week is very difficult for us but we only need five more points to ensure safety in the division."[LNB]Peterborough's new manager Jim Gannon thought it was a fair result.[LNB]"We never showed enough drive or quality to win the game and the difference between the sides was the speed and movement of their front players," he said.[LNB]"I am not expecting a dramatic turnaround at the club and it is going to be a long hard slog but at least I want the players to have the experience of being in this division."[LNB][LNB]
