Jones: City win 'deserved'

Post match comments from the two managers. "We deserved the win from the very first minute. It was all about squeezing the game and we stopped them from using their spare midfield man," said a delighted Dave Jones."Once we scored the second goal we shut them out and every one of our players put in a good shift tonight. They had a lot of the ball but couldn't do anything with it."We lost on Saturday against a form team but we were also a form team and tonight we have put distance between us and a very good Leicester side."We deserved the victory because we passed the ball well on a difficult pitch, kept possession and stopped them from playing."Leicester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson was left to mourn the end of his side's nine-match unbeaten run."I'm disappointed that our good run has come to an end," he admitted."After Cardiff scored it was very difficult to break down a solid Cardiff defence."We created a couple of good chances in the second half but I am sure we will come back strongly from this defeat. It will be a long trip home but we will work hard again in training."Their goals were conceded far too easily. We didn't do too badly but not well enough to get anything out of the game. We have to pull ourselves together and look forward to the next game."But the Swede acknowledged that the result had put a dent in the Foxes' promotion aspirations."If we had won the match we could have closed the gap on the top six but we cannot now afford to drop many points," he said."Cardiff have quality players and they must be one of the favourites for promotion but in this division every match is hard fought."
