Jones: Bellamy knows his role

Cardiff manager Dave Jones has revealed Craig Bellamy struggled at first to adapt to playing for the club but believes he has now got the hang of playing as part of a team in English football's second tier. The 31-year-old Welsh international, who caused a stir in the summer when he decided to drop down a division to sign for the Bluebirds on a season-long loan from Manchester City, has made half a dozen appearances for Jones' table-topping side this season and they have won every game. Jones said that Bellamy has now realised the role he plays within the team. He told the South Wales Echo: "Craig knows how important he is to the team, but the problem when he arrived was that he thought he was carrying the team. "We were carrying him and he had to understand that the other players will help him as much as he helps them. Craig realised it early on, certainly when he was out injured, and gained appreciation of that. "Before that he was so determined to do well for Cardiff he lost a bit of focus of what he was here for. Now he knows that we need him as much as he needs us. That goes for every player. We have a lot of good players at Cardiff City."
