Cardiff duo Dave Jones and Jay Bothroyd have walked off with the honours after being named as the Championship`s respective manager and player of the month for October.

Jones beat off stiff competition from counterpart Brendan Rodgers at Swansea, Coventry boss Aidy Boothroyd and Portsmouth`s Steve Cotterill. He guided the Bluebirds to five wins from their five games last month, during which time they scored an impressive 14 goals and set the second tier alight as they took to the summit of the table.

Striker Bothroyd chipped in with five of those goals and earned rave reviews in the process for his performances, leading to his recognition by the npower awards panel as he came in ahead of Scott Sinclair, Liam Lawrence and Lewis McGugan.

Jones and Bothroyd, who continue to be in contract negotiations with the latter`s current deal set to expire at the end of this season, received their awards on Thursday at Cardiff`s Vale of Glamorgan training ground.
