Jay and Silent Cov

Jay Bothroyd silenced the Coventry faithful as he scored Cardiff's winner in the 87th minute. A ninth goal for JayBothroyd again came back to haunt the Sky Blues, after scoring in City's 2 - 0 win at the Ricoh two seasons ago, he came up with a crucial strike tonight. Another player they won't want to see in a hurry is Peter Whittingham. Whitt's opened the scoring tonight with a penalty in the 5th minute. Last season Whittingham won the match for Cardiff with a last minute penalty winner.Cardiff were in front when Chopra was tugged back in the box by Ben Turner. Chopra was looking to get on the end of a Bellamy cross. I've seen the video once and it was soft but it was an infringement. The Coventry player was booked after the referee went to his assistant. Whittingham, after missing the last two penalties he's taken and being told by Dave Jones he was off the job, came up trumps and sent the keeper the wrong way.Listening to Paul Merson on Sky Sports (his names Bothroyd and not Boothroyd) who was watching the game it seemed fairly even and so was the score at half time. Just before the break Gary McSheffrey turned McNaughton inside out before slotting home. Cardiff had given the ball away cheaply in midfield and were punished. My nerves were frayed as I waited for updates and it took until the last few minutes before the Morris household erupted. Chris Burke skinned his man down the right and crossed for Bothroyd to strike a fatal blow. His deft touch saw the ball nestle in the back of the net and City moved a step closer to Q.P.R. who were held at Swansea. Burke could have scored a third but his mazy run ended with his effort saved.Bothroyd was less than impressed with his former team-mates. Soon after the game he posted on Twitter "I ******* hate playing coventry. They should put up rugby posts" he was grateful though to the travelling support saying "Cardiff fans = quality as always ! Thanks for your support"Since the back to back defeats a few weeks ago at Leicester and Ipswich, Cardiff have picked up 13 points from the last 15 available. Q.P.R.'s lead is just two points and City have a five point cushion over 3rd place. Our next action is after everyone else has played. We are the main attraction live on Sky next Monday from Elland Rd v Leeds Utd.
