Nothing will stop Cardiff from lifting the Championship trophy at 5pm this afternoon but Bolton hope to take something on the pitch in the 90 mins that precedes the celebrations.

While Cardiff's 1st place is secure for Bolton a play off place needs to be confirmed and that means they need probably one more win from two matches to secure it.

They have been in a rich vein of form, 9 wins from the last 12 matches has seen them rise from 16th to 6th and will be formidable opponents for Cardiff this afternoon.

Dougie Freedman said of his friend Malky Mackay.

“Malky is a good guy, he’s my mate, and that club have had a tendency to choke under previous regimes on the big occasions.

“The whole club and the fans have turned that round now. They had the reputation of choking and of being an intimidating place but they’ve turned that round because the family stands have been voted very highly too.

“Malky has made an atmosphere now of a team that are champions, and deserved ones.”
