Hull City Vs Cardiff City Police Message

01 May 2013 15:45
On behalf of Humberside Police I would like to welcome you to the city of Hull for the forthcoming fixture between Hull City and Cardiff City on Saturday 4th May 2013.

I would also like to pass on my congratulations to you on winning the Championship and securing promotion to the Premiership next season. The fixture on Saturday 4th May 2013 will be a great fixture involving two fantastic clubs both of whom may yet be playing each other next year in the elite of the Premiership. This would be a fitting finale for the passionate supporters of both clubs. The KC stadium at Hull is situated near to the city centre and I expect that on a bank holiday Saturday the city will be exceptionally busy with shoppers and supporters alike, I would advise that you ensure you plan your journey to arrive at the ground in good time. There will be Police Officers on duty in the city and at the stadium that will be able to assist supporters, please feel free to speak to them or ask them any questions. There is limited parking around the stadium and a park and ride service operating from the outskirts of the city which stops at the stadium. For those travelling by rail the railway station is a 20 minute walk from the stadium. The stadium turnstiles are likely to open at 11.15am and alcohol will be sold in the ground until kick off time. I would ask that those of you, who will be drinking, drink sensibly throughout the day as there will be a lot of families in attendance at this fixture and it is important that this is an enjoyable day for all.Following the final whistle both teams are likely to want to show their gratitude to all supporters and to that end if you plan to be a part of these celebrations I would ask that you remain in your seat and not be tempted into entering the playing area.Humberside Police work closely with Hull City Football club to ensure everyone attending football matches can do so in a safe and enjoyable way. This is an exciting fixture at the end of a great season for both clubs and I anticipate a fantastic atmosphere. It is important that the football on the pitch remains the story and that the reputations of supporters and the teams remain intact.Chief Inspector Richard KirvenHumberside Police
