Hudson desperate to return

Cardiff captain Mark Hudson could be in contention to end his three-month absence at home to Reading this weekend but whether he makes the starting XI is a different matter altogether. The centre-back is in full training having returned from the ankle operation that cut short his season back in January, just as the Bluebirds started to suffer an injury crisis that threatened to derail their promotion hopes. But Hudson is finally back in frame and could feature against the Royals, although manager Dave Jones may opt to hold him back until next weekend`s trip to QPR to allow maximum recovery. Without question, the impressive form of current makeshift pairing Anthony Gerrard and Darcy Blake also hands Jones something extra to ponder. Hudson told the South Wales Echo: "We've had our problems with injuries recently and if it had got any worse at the back last weekend (against Swansea) I was ready to come in - I would have loved to be involved and I wanted to offer my services and show my support. In the end they told me it was a little too soon and the lads got the win they deserved." He added: "It's been tough being out but it's been great to see the lads winning games as they have done of late. Now hopefully I can come in and help out. Forest was too soon but hopefully with an extra week under my belt I can be fit for Saturday."
