Heaton has played the supporting role to David Marshall this season but suggestions that he might leave have come out of the blue.
It's been suggested in the press that if Brighton have to let Steve Harper go back to Newcastle then Heaton would be their next target.
Cardiff have inexperienced back up after Heaton with on loan Elliot Parish from Aston Villa and Jordan Santiago.
