Heaton left City this summer and has been linked to a number of club but he's spent time with Bristol City and boss Derek McInnes is hopeful of signing him.
"We are in discussions with Tom and his representatives," confirmed McInnes.
"He has been with us for around ten days now, a few days in Bristol before coming to Spain with us. There could be a deal to be done, but there is nothing further at this stage."
