Gerrard keen to fulfil potential

The 22-year old, cousin of Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, has had to wait for his opportunity after former club Walsall rejected bids from Southampton and Scunthorpe. But after securing the move, the defender is ready to give his all for the Bluebirds and told the South Wales Echo: "I'm a wholehearted player who is totally committed to the cause. "Cardiff City have offered me the challenge and I jumped at it. I can't wait. "There were four clubs interested and some were working out what they wanted to do. Cardiff moved in with an offer and I was delighted when I heard it had been accepted. "If you don't make the step up then you're not going to fulfil your potential so I can't wait."
