Former ref Poll slams Welsh FA
Referee Mike Dean suffered a cut to his forehead last month after he was struck by the missile during the South Wales derby between the Bluebirds and Swansea at Ninian Park on April 5.
A man was immediately ejected from the ground and banned by Cardiff for life with the club subsequently working closely with local police to investigate the matter.
Cardiff's swift response to the incident has resulted in the FAW taking no further disciplinary action, but former Premier League official Poll believes that is not good enough.
Official statements are expected to come from both the FAW and Cardiff, but Poll told BBC Sport: "There seems to be a reluctance to act with strength, to act to say...'this is not acceptable'.
"The point is if you keep saying 'ah, well they've acted swiftly, well done', nothing will ever change and as I said at the time it wouldn't have been such a bad thing had the referee said 'I'm abandoning the match'."
Newport County were fined £3,000 by the FAW following an incident in November 2006 and Poll added: "All too often referees are accused of behaving differently with the biggest clubs...and yet it seems that the FAW have fallen into that trap as well. They (Newport) were fined heavily and yet Cardiff City - once again - escaped."
