On Tuesday night the only winners near the top of the table were West Ham. They kept an automatic promotion place firmly in their sights, especialy as they play 2nd placed Reading on the weekend.

Middlesbrough drew away at Ipswich, Hull were shocked by losing at Portsmouth and outsiders Leicester and Palace both drew at home to struggling opposition.
It means that Birmingham and Cardiff can force the issue when they play Friday night and Saturday lunchtime respectively.
