Dave Jones leads Owls to promotion

Given 12 games to overtake city rivals Sheffield Utd, former Cardiff boss Dave Jones came though with 10 wins and 2 draws to lead Sheffield Wednesday into the Championship.

It went to the final day yesterday with Wednesday winning 2 - 0 over Wycombe to end the season in the second automatic promotion place behind Charlton.

Danny Wilson's Blades will now have to try and get promotion through the play offs after theur could only draw at Exeter.

Jones was appointed on March 5th after Gary Megson was sacked. The Owls were 3rd in the table, 4 points behind Utd having played a game more.

A stunning return of 10 wins and two draws in the 12 game run in earned Wednesday promotion after two seasons in League 1.
