Comminges makes Cardiff exit

Defender Miguel Comminges might never pull on a Cardiff shirt again having completed a loan move to League One side Carlisle until the end of the year.

The 28-year-old, who joined City from Swindon in 2008, is working his way back to fitness having missed virtually all of last season recovering from medial ligament damage, before injuring his cruciate ligament in the same knee upon his return to training.

Comminges` current Bluebirds deal expires on December 31 - the same day as his loan at Brunton Park - as it remains to be seen what the future holds. Nevertheless, Cumbrians boss Greg Abbott is delighted to have signed a player that will bolster his defensive options.

He told Carlisle`s official website: "We need some defensive cover and Miguel will provide that.

"He's a player that we know a lot about and we are delighted that he is coming to join us. He had a great time at Swindon and was progressing well at Cardiff, but his injury forced him out of the side.

"A lot of hard work has been done to get him back to match fitness and this move will give him a chance to get in and around our first-team squad."
