City v Scunthorpe. Match preview

11 February 2011 14:59
Kevin McNaughton, Aaran Ramsey and Peter Whittingham are the three players hoping to shake off knocks ahead of tomorrow's game with Scunthorpe. Lee Naylor is also fit again after illness so is in contention for selection. The bumps and bangs don't appear to be too serious so hopefully Dave Jones will have a full squad to choose from. After the shut out at Swansea last week we can expect to see a home debut for Deckel Keinan tomorrow as he partners Mark Hudson in central defence.Unless one of the injured players fails to make it and depending on whether Jones will rest Craig Bellamy I would expect to see the same line up against Scunthorpe that we played at Swansea.Cardiff will find a lot more time on the ball tomorrow against a side who have conceded 9 goals in their last three away games and a team that have lost 10 of their last 12 matches.Cardiff can close on the top two with a win before QPR and Forest play on Sunday. For Scunthorpe they come fightning for survival. They are seven points adrift of safety at the bottom of the Championship and although they have three games in hand on Crystal Palace a continuation of their current form will see them relegated. What Cardiff must avoid is a repeat of their results against the other three teams in the bottom four. Already this season we have drawn at home to Sheff Utd, Crystal Palace and the worst of the lot, Preston. After the euphoria of last Sunday's win away at Swansea, Dave Jones and his players with the backing of another 21,000+ crowd at the CCS need to keep the pressure on at the top of the table and bring maximum points from our home games. We face Burnley on Tuesday as well. Two huge games in four days at the CCS before City travel to Nottingham Forest.Scunthorpe are again beset by injuries, but Abdisalam Ibrahim is available after serving a suspension. Keeper Joe Murphy is still out, along with Rob Jones, Niall Canavan, Cliff Byrne, Garry Thompson and David Mirfin. Cardiff City v Scunthorpe.Saturday 12th February, ko 3:00pm
