Rhys Healey has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the Bluebirds.

Cardiff City have signed 18 year old Rhys Healey from Connah's Quay Nomads for an undisclosed fee.

The striker has scored 16 goals in the Welsh Premier league this season and his former boss tips him to have a bright future.

Healy will join the City Development squad but Nomads boss Mark McGregor believes he will make the first team

"I think he will go on to play for Cardiff's first team, not a problem. Of course by then they could be playing in the Premiership, which would be a dream for Rhys." McGregor said.

“He has gone from strength to strength this season and there was just no way we could hold the lad back. He will have a bedding-in period, in which he will learn about being a professional player, training day in, day out.

"But I expect him to be pushing hard for a place in their squad by this time next season."

The deal sees Nomads get a fee for the player and Cardiff will send a strong squad play a friendly at the Deeside Stadium next summer.
