West Brom had most of the possession in the Championship clash at the Cardiff City Stadium, particularly in a one-sided second half, but the Bluebirds held on for an important point.[LNB]Peter Whittingham had put them in front with a seventh-minute spot-kick after Jay Bothroyd was brought down by Jonas Olsson but Gianni Zuiverloon scrambled home in first-half injury time to ensure his side a share of the spoils.[LNB]"A draw was a fair result," said Jones. "I can't fault my players for the effort they put in and there are a lot of tired legs in the dressing room.[LNB]"I am very proud of all of them and couldn't ask them for any more.[LNB]"It was like two boxers slugging it out on the pitch tonight and neither would give an inch."[LNB]City settled down after going ahead but the Baggies soon began to take control and Andwele Slory struck the inside of a post midway through the half.[LNB]Two minutes later Cardiff suffered a blow when Whittingham was forced off with a groin injury.[LNB]Just when it seemed they would go in at the interval in front, the defence failed to clear and Zuiverloon levelled the scores.[LNB]The visitors had three players booked as Cardiff worked hard to shut them down and Olsson missed a glorious chance to put his side in front when he headed over from five yards.[LNB]In a rare Cardiff break, Chris Burke sent a shot spinning past the Albion post and then in the last minute he popped up on his own goal-line to clear a goal-bound effort from Simon Cox.[LNB]Baggies boss Di Matteo said: "We feel a little disappointed not to win the game.[LNB]"We had a number of chances in the second half but had no luck.[LNB]"It is a tough, competitive division and I am pleased with the players' performance tonight and now we are back on top we must continue to gain points to make sure we stay there.[LNB]"Jay Bothroyd was very clever in moving in front of our player to convince the referee that it was a penalty but on a positive note we have no more injuries to report."[LNB]Cardiff must now count the walking wounded as they are suffering from having a very small squad due to their financial situation.[LNB]"Peter Whittingham has a groin injury but until we look at it closer in the morning we cannot tell whether he will be available for Saturday's visit of Barnsley," said Jones.[LNB][LNB]
