Chopra back for Cardiff

Michael Chopra made a goalscoring return to action for Cardiff`s reserves on Tuesday. The striker has been sidelined for just over seven weeks having suffered ankle ligament damage in the 4-0 home win over Doncaster in late August.

His presence in attack has been sorely missed along with that of Craig Bellamy, who returned from his lengthy lay-off to face Barnsley in the club`s last game before the current international break.

In a behind-closed-doors friendly at Cardiff`s Vale of Glamorgan training ground, Chopra got 60 minutes under his belt in a 5-1 victory over Bristol Rovers.

It will now be up to manager Dave Jones to decide whether Chopra is match fit enough to be included in his matchday 18 for Saturday`s Severnside derby at home to Bristol City.
