Leaders Southampton and 2nd place West Ham both won to extend their lead over City to eight and six points respectively.
Saints came from behind to beat Hull at home while West Ham beat 4th place Middlesbrough ensuring that Cardiff kept third place.
With Cardiff playing Birmingham on Sunday the whole Championship play again before City kick their next ball. So we may find ourselves even further behind the top two.
