Championship manager mayhem

13 June 2011 09:58
An interesting day on Sunday with two Championship managers leaving their clubs while there's still nothing official on a new man for Cardiff City. Within 30 minutes on Sunday afternoon Nottingham Forest sacked Billy Davies and then Birmingham announced that Alex Mcleish had resigned. Forest have wasted no time and this morning have appointed Steve McLaren as their new boss on a three year deal. The rumours in the Midlands is that Mcleish could be lined up for the Aston Villa job. A move that is causing a lot of grief from fans of both Villa and Blues. Only last week Mcleish signed Chris Burke and Marlon King, now he's scarpered. The movements in the Midlands appear to have no bearing on the search for a manager at Cardiff City. The same names are in the frame with Malky Mackay of Watford the name being shouted loudest at the moment. Chris Hughton, Roberto Di Matteo, Derek Innes and randomly Alan Shearer are all linked. The club have made no official statement but via twitter media have said: Over the next few days CardiffCity will continue to speak to managerial candidates. Not all of the interviews & talks have taken place. Football management events of today have no impact on any CardiffCity appointment timelines. So for the moment we are no nearer officially knowing who the next manager will be.
